Part 2
Sunday 15th June

Volbeat were up next after joe bonamassa. I'd recently got into these and after their performance sure did want to listen to them more. There stage set was really cool they had like graveyard gates each side of the stage. Really cool anyways. Quite funny really, I obviously sang the songs I knew but the bassist kept looking in my direction so was rather awkward when I didn't know the words to some songs. Ah well. Win some you lose some!

Out of all the bigger bands that day Steel Panther were the ones I was least looking forward too. I just couldn't get into their music at all, I thought they were annoying glam rock who were extremely arrogant and weren't good musicians. Turns out I was wrong about a couple of things. I actually did enjoy their set. I guess they seem arrogant due to the show etc they put on. Credit where it's due they proper got the crowd going and are actually talented musicians. Tough act to follow but Alter Bridge were up next, I knew they'd smash it!

Alter Bridge made way for Aerosmith. This was my first experience seeing the almighty Aerosmith. They were on my list of bands I wanted to see so I'm glad I finally managed to tick them off, I never thought the day would come! First they put some backstage footage on the big screen before coming on the stage. Excitement vibes flowed around Donnington!
As expected they were incredible. Steven Tyler's voice is nothing less than awesome! The whole band were just non stop, smashing out hit after hit. It was an amazing way to end what was such an incredible day!

Part 1

I can't quite believe I'm here I kept saying to myself. We had a plan, we wanted to get to barrier by the time Volbeat hit the stage!

We had a look around then headed to the main stage where we'd be spending the best part of the day. Jake. E. Lee's Dragon Cartel were on, thought I might as well watch them since I was there and needed to wait for my friend.

My friend arrived and we had another look around before making our way to the main stage where we wouldn't be moving till after Aerosmith (the headliner) had finished.
It was 12:50pm so only 6 hours till Alter Bridge. Buckcherry were on. I had listened to these before so knew a couple of songs but only one song got stuck in my head ''Crazy Bitch'', it was the last song of the set but what a song to finish on, the crowd were pumped and ready for the next artist.

Richie Sambora up next. Again I knew a few songs but more the Bon Jovi stuff. Needless to say I was very happy to hear my favourite Jovi song played ''Wanted Dead Or Alive''. I had my first proper singalong of the day. As Richie was singing I couldn't help but picture Sam and Dean Winchester from Supernatural singing it on the series in their beloved Impala.

I saw a slight opening in the crowd so I took my chance whilst

is was there and I managed to get on barrier! It was 3pm, 4 hours till Alter Bridge, I knew though I wasn't going to move I hung onto that barrier for dear life!

Joe Bonamassa followed. I'd heard a lot about him from recommendations, I'd seen a couple clips from his DVD's but never listened to his music as such. I was rather memorised by his guitar playing, being a guitar player myself I guess I can appreciate his skills more than some people. Halfway through his set I saw Alter Bridge's Brian Marshall and Black Stone Cherry's Chris Robertson watching Bonamassa from the sidelines. I kept looking back there every now and then and up popped Tremonti followed by Myles Kennedy. I almost screamed ''ahh Alter Bridge'' but proceeded to continue watching Joe. I had excitement butterflies as it had finally sunk in this day had finally arrived and it was all actually happening.

It's also cool seeing the amazing musicians like Mark Tremonti having idols too. I could see they like me were just mesmerised but Joe's guitar playing. It's often forgotten that band members are actually human, they do everything like us... except they have cool jobs!

Bonamassa went on stage and made way for Volbeat...
