I decided to set myself this challenge. I have to post everyday throughout October with something to do with Rock 'N' Roll! I'm starting it with idol week , 7 days, 7 idols I'd like to write about.
First one I'll post about is probably my first ever and biggest idol/ inspiration, Billie Joe Armstrong.
Billie has been the person I look up for as long as I remember. It's not just the lyrics he comes up with it's his attitude, his look just everything. He speaks his mind and he's not afraid to do so. Just look at American Idiot as an example of that.
I mentioned his lyrics are a big part, of course they are. He writes some of the most amazing material, I can relate to some things, and then the other things I just think are so clever.
Billie is no stranger to having a go at things that are out of his comfort zone too. Playing St. Jimmy on the American Idiot stage production, as well as doing some acting in movies.
I love the way he speaks of his family as well, people just assume he's a dirtbag rock n roller, he has been married for 20 years and has two awesome kids. That's not so bad is it.
Whatever emotion I feel Billie is always there. I got the chance to see Green Day live for the first time in 2009 easily one of the best days of my life. I hope to one day meet Billie, until that day I shall carry on listening to his wonderful music as I have done for the last 10 years.
