Today's Idol is Frank Turner.
I can't put into words how much I love and respect this guy, though I guess i'll give it a go.
I first heard of Frank back in 2010 when he supported Green Day, I checked his music out before the gig and been hooked ever since.
His music is not only catchy but clever too. The lyrics are very relatable. Frank is just pure talent, I remember Billie Joe saying about the support acts back in 2010 I believe Billie said... 'Frank Turner now he's a fuckin good song writer I'll tell you that right now' and he was right! Always listen to Billie, see ;)
He's a fantastic guitarist as well, he plays the acoustic guitar mostly, it's kind of what he's known for.
A lot of Frank's lyrics are about getting away, you can tell he's speaking from own experience here, even his other lyrics he just tells it how it is. His music may not be mega punk rock but his personality and attitude sure is!
I finally got to meet Frank in July at Sonisphere, I was a bit shocked that Id actually met him so didn't really know what to say so I literally just said... 'you're awesome'... Well done Kat you successfully made a fool of yourself in front of an Idol!
I actually got to meet Frank again after his own gig in Leicester, I plucked up the courage to tell him what his music meant to me and how it helps me. He gave me a hug and said thanks. I was a bit in shock to say the least! He is such a down to earth guy, it is unreal.
