Rocks are a funny thing aren't they. They're all different shapes and sizes and yet the majority of them are the dull colour of grey. What's that about?
Rocks have been used for many years from skimming them in water to being used as tools in the stone age.
There are three major types of rocks.Igneous - This type of rock is formed through a cooling and solidification process.

Metamorphic - These rise from existing rocks. They change form by being subjected to heat greater than 200'c and pressure (1500 bars).
Sedimentary - These are formed by the deposition of material at the earth's surface and within bodies of water. Sedimentary are also important sources of natural resources such as coal, fossil fuel and drinking water.
Ok, so I actually kind of enjoyed looking up rocks for this daft post. Thanks to my mother for the idea of a post about actual rocks for Rocktober!
Back to Rock 'N' Roll tomorrow! ;)
